I tried to post a comment congratulating those women and praising their strength of conviction. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it didn't stay up.

Someone once told me that I was "going against Nature" because I don't want to have kids. I told him that I have NO maternal instinct or desire for children, so in reality, I would be going against Nature if I DID have kids! Saying you must have kids just because you have the "equipment" (eg, reproductive organs) is like saying "you have opposable thumbs, so you must become an electrician." No, there needs to be desire there, and perhaps some talent for it as well. And I have neither the desire nor talent for raising kids.

Breeders will always try to rationalize having kids even if they know what they're saying doesn't make sense. They are always trying to verify their decisions to themselves.

Thanks for finding this article. Funny how people have the same head in the sand attitude when it comes to green issues... "oh yes we want to save the planet, but not if it means having no or less kids...we'll have the kids - and teach 'em to recycle - that'll save the planet" Duh! Denial, mixed up or what?
