Nail head? Meet hammer.
In the third and final presidential debate tonight, the topic of abortion was finally brought up. Afterwards, I watched an online video on msnbc.com where they asked Rachel Maddow and Pat Buchanan their thoughts. Rachel Maddow was completely spot on when she said it comes down to how much say we want the government to have in our reproductive rights.
See for yourself.
Ms. Maddow, my hat is off.
***Okay, so it looks like there is some technical difficulties with msnbc.com. Instead of clicking the link and conveniently going straight to video, you’ll have to scroll down and select the video “Abortion Highlights Candidates’ Contrasts. Sorry about that, folks.

An excellent point by Ms. Maddow, indeed! Because when you frame the issue in that light, it is more frightening than ever! I’ve been a supporter of Dr. Ron Paul for a while now; however the one point I really disagree with him on is allowing each state to handle abortion laws individually. Now I’m not an expert on the constitution by any means, but I don’t think that a law permitting a woman to choose whether or not to have a child is unconstitutional per say. If there were a law stating that ALL pregnancies should go to term, that would seem like more of an infringement upon one’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But the protection to choose that is afforded by Roe v. Wade couldn’t possibly infringe upon a persons rights as they would not be FORCED to have an abortion. It’s still a CHOICE. That’s my two cents anyway. Wonderful post!

I agree with you – Rachel made a very powerful point.
Obama talks about “common ground” in preventing unwanted pregnancy and it would be GREAT if all sides could come together to work on ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies to begin with. That will never happen, though, because such prevention would have to involve education and conservatives are generally anti-sex education. Many of them are against birth control as well (esp. for teens). Their idea of birth control is abstinence, which we all know does not work, especially for teenagers with raging hormones.
Conservatives are always pushing to save all these fetus’ lives but once the children are born, these are the same people who are against the government providing any funding to support these children.
Ah, don’t get me started.
